Electric scooters are one of the most heatedly talked topics at this right moment. But it is very much sad to say, a large portion of the public is focusing on and believing in some certain facts. Facts that represent very small portion practicality or even wrong.
We are at the beginning of a new era of smart mobility where Kirest has set itself a goal to change urban transportation for good. As part of this mission, we always have to encounter with some myths that are crawling around the e-scooter industry. Yes, there are myths, there are misconceptions. And we should take the responsibility to crack down these misconceptions and break down the myths.
1st Myth: ELECTRIC SCOOTERS ONLY LASTS FOR 28 DAYS
The FACT: This claim is totally false and actually funny. How come an electric scooter’s lifespan would be only 28 days! Oh god! Whatever happens, I can assure you that, if you give the worst care to your electric scooter, it will last longer than 6 months. The longevity of an e-scooter depends on the quality of the product, how well you can maintain your e-scooter and obviously the repair process of a representative company.
I think I know from where this myth came from. First-generation of e-scooters in the US was not made or designed for rental purpose. They were maintained improperly, that’s why they didn’t last longer than expected. Kirest successfully claims that all of our current generation products are well made and all of the individual parts are replaceable.
Kirest has a very professional and frequent repair and maintenance cycle which ensures minimal technical defects of any product. For this reason, Kirest estimates a product’s lifespan of 24 months. Our next-generation products will be built for longer and stronger use.
2nd Myth: ELECTRIC SCOOTERS ARE BAD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT
The FACT: Most electric scooters still use internal combustion engine vans that have a very little influence on the environment. This is an over-hasty judgement.
At Kirest, we are trying our best to redesign all our process in making the engine zero carbon emission engine. Some of our current e-scooters already have swappable batteries. We’ll optimize our product’s lifespan and they’ll soon be able to charge with 100% green electricity. Some new tech e-scooters with zero carbon emission are already rolled out in Paris and are also available to purchase in all over Europe.
3rd Myth: E-SCOOTER DOESN’T REPLACE CAR TRIPS
The FACT: In a survey of French scooter drivers, nearly 20% of e-scooter riders have replaced a car ride to their destination. According to a larger study taken place on San Francisco, 50% of respondents said, they would rather drive a car than ride an electric scooter. So, there is very insufficient proof that e-scooters are already replaced car trips.
We have to understand that, the e-scooter industry and enthusiasm is just on the rise. Though there are many different study results, we have to confess that, e-scooter replaced by car trips are not happening. But people are starting to love this tech as a result the market is still in increase. In the very near future, we hope it’ll not be a myth anymore.
